<body background="graphics/common/sky.jpg" onLoad="scrollit(100)" oncontextmenu="return false" onselectstart="return false" ondragstart="return false"> <p align="center"> <img border="0" src="graphics/common/logotitle2.gif" width="600" height="86"></p> <hr> <p align="center"><blink><font color="#FF0000" size="5" face="Arial"><b>Sorry this website frame, but your web browser does not.</b></font></blink></p> <p align="center"> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx"> <img border="0" src="graphics/common/ieget_animated.gif" width="143" height="74"></a></p> <p> <b><font size="5" color="#FF0000" face="Arial">What is the HKMEC?</font></b> <p align="justify"><b><font face="Arial" color="#0000FF"><span lang="EN-US">Hong Kong Model Engineering Club was established in the late 1950’s and started with about 10 members.  Its aim is to bring together hobby enthusiasts for exchange of information and to promote the sport.  In November 6, 1969, our Club formally registered with Hong Kong Government and the name was changed to Hong Kong Model Engineering Club Limited. </span></font><font size="3" color="#0000FF" face="Arial">The Hong Kong Model Engineering Club (HKMEC) Limited is the first radio controlled model aircraft organization incorporated in Hong Kong. </font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font size="3" color="#0000FF" face="Arial">During our years of existence, we stand to be responsible for all aspects of model flying in Hong Kong. HKMEC possess the only airfield for radio controlled aircraft granted by the Hong Kong Government for public usage. HKMEC promotes and protects model flying in Hong Kong and undertakes to represent all model fliers at the highest level. This includes negotiation with our Government departments, international governing bodies such as the FAI and CIAM, and a wide variety of aviation, sports and recreational bodies. By maintaining close contact with the authorities we maintain the model flyer's status by achieving recognition and self regulation.</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font size="3" color="#0000FF" face="Arial">HKMEC is affiliated with Hong Kong Aviation Club, the Fédération Aéronautique International (FAI) National Airsport Control of Hong Kong.</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font face="Arial" color="#0000FF">To know more about the history of aero model in Hong Kong, our club history, see our <a href="history.htm">History</a> page.</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font face="Arial" size="5" color="#FF0000">Our Membership</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font size="3" color="#0000FF" face="Arial">HKMEC membership is open to public. Membership brings many benefits, including the usage of the only officially licensed aero model flying field for public in Hong Kong, and 3rd party liability insurance of up to HK$5 million while operating at our own flying field.</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font face="Arial" color="#0000FF">Our members comes from all walks of lives. We are fortunate to have the most representative individuals in the hobby as our members amongst the aero modeling community in Hong Kong. </font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font face="Arial" color="#0000FF">To know more about our membership, see our <a href="membership.htm">Membership</a> page.</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font face="Arial" size="5" color="#FF0000">Our Airfield</font></b></p> <p align="justify"><b><font size="3" color="#0000FF" face="Arial">HKMEC airfield is the only officially licensed aero model flying field for public in Hong Kong. Through gruesome negotiations with our Government, finally in the year 2004 we are granted a piece of land to fly. At a place where land prices is amongst the highest in the world, this means a lot of support by our Government to our hobby. In addition, up till today we have spent over HK$3 million to fabricate it, and construction is never ending.
