HKMEC membership has its privilege!

Back in the 1960s, a group of model airplane fliers in Hong Kong, while enjoying their hobbies, thought that a Club should be established to better facilitate exchange of information within the community of aero modelers while promote our beloved hobby to the public in hopes for more to enjoy. In the year 1969, HKMEC was incorporated with only 5 members. At the time when a model airplane is near to the cost of a motor vehicle, such thoughts are visionary. Now HKMEC still upholds the thoughts of our predecessors. We current have over 100 members consist of Full (Flying) Members, Debenture Members, Corporate Members, Honorary Members, Junior Members, Senior Members, Overseas Members and Affiliated Members. HKMEC membership is open to public and there is no prerequisite to join. (Subject to the approval by our Management Committee) Membership brings many benefits, including:

  • Usage of International Model Aviation Center, the only officially licensed aero model flying field in Hong Kong.

  • 3rd party liability insurance of up to HK$5 million while operating your model aircraft at our own flying field.

  • The prestige of being a member of the most representative aero modeling club in Hong Kong.

HKMEC offers various types of membership to suit individual needs. The following chart details our current membership structure and fees:

Full (Flying) Member 15,000- NIL 4800

Normal membership class opens to the public. Possess voting right at resolutions at any Club meetings. Includes unlimited usage of airfield.
Idle (Non Flying) Member See remarks NIL 500

Available only to Full Members who does not want to pay monthly subscription while keeping their membership status for their own reasons. Any Full Member could pay a Yearly Subscription Fee to convert to this member type, and no monthly subscription will be charged thereafter. Everyday when an Idle (Non Flying) member want to use the airfield there will be a cover charge. (Currently HK$200- per day) It is free to re-activate to previous membership status upon  payment of monthly subscription fee.

Lifetime Full (Flying) Member 60,000- NIL NIL

Membership class opens to the public who elect to pay a one time lifetime subscription rather than to pay monthly subscription. Any Full Member could pay a lifetime subscription fee of HK$50,000- to covert to this type of membership. Possess same rights as Full (Flying) Member for life. Only limited seats available!
Debenture (Flying) Member 50,000-

Each nominee

 300- N/A Our Club offers debentures that is non-interest bearing, mature in 20 years. The debenture is non-transferable. This is purely for financing construction at our airfield. Each debenture is entitled to have one individual as nominee (Debenture holder could be nominee) to enjoy unlimited usage of airfield, while debenture holder retains voting right at resolutions at any Club meetings.  Only limited debentures available!
Corporate (Flying) Member 50,000-

Each nominee

 300- N/A Membership opens to corporations. Each Corporate Member could nominate one individual as nominee to enjoy unlimited usage of airfield, while Corporation retains voting right at resolutions at any Club meetings.
Junior (Flying) Member 5,000- NIL 2400 Flying membership opens to youngster of aged from 11 to 18. No voting rights at any resolution at any Club meetings. Includes unlimited usage of airfield. Automatically covert to Full (Flying) Member status once reach the age of 18.
Senior (Flying) Member 5,000- NIL 2400 Flying membership opens to senior citizens of age 65 and up. Possess same rights as Full (Flying) Member.
Honorary Member See remarks Flying membership offered at the approval of the Management Committee to individuals who made significant contributions to the Club or the aero modeling community. No voting rights at any resolution at any Club meetings. Includes unlimited usage of airfield.
Overseas Member NIL NIL 500 Membership open to individuals who resides overseas and possess a membership of a foreign model association recognized by the Club. No voting rights at any resolution at any Club meetings. Everyday when an Overseas Member want to use the airfield there will be a cover charge. (Currently HK$200- per day).
Affiliated Member NIL NIL 80- Membership open to individuals who is a member of an Affiliated Organization. No voting rights at any resolution at any Club meetings. Everyday when an Affiliated Member want to use the airfield there will be a cover charge. (Currently HK$200- per day).
Daily Member $200/Day NIL NIL Daily membership is available to public at HKD$200- per day. Remarks: Kindly contact our Site Manager, Mr Siu, at 61391871 to make an appointment before flying at our flying field.

 

The normal period of membership shall be from 1st April of each year to 31st March of next year. Applications for membership has to be cosigned by two Committee Members, and pending approval at the next Management Committee Meeting. While waiting for formal approval, any potential member could immediately enjoy the flying rights at the IMAC airfield once Entrance Fee is paid. Each year at the Annual General Meeting the membership fee will be agreed.
